Find Security, Prosperity and Health With 1st Chakra Malas
This is the first of a series that will inform you about the benefits of wearing your mala and saying your mantra for each of the seven chakras. With the recent increased awareness of the many healing benefits of gemstones, mantras and malas, why not adorn yourself with jewelry that is both sacred and beautiful.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means wheel and refers to a system of seven basic energy centers that carry energy, or prana, throughout the body. Open and balanced chakras lead to optimal health, vitality and consciousness.??
First Chakra
Today we will talk about the first chakra, called the root chakra, which is located at the base of the spine and forms our foundation. The element is earth and the function is grounding to the physical plane and connection to our bodies. It is oriented to self-preservation, our survival instincts and our sense of physical identity and trust. Ideally this chakra brings us health, prosperity, security, and dynamic presence. If out of balance, we may feel self-centered, greedy, overly materialistic, fearful, or have low self-esteem. When balanced, we feel prosperous, secure, and filled of vitality and energy. We feel mastery over matters of the material world, embody courage and success.
This chakra is linked to the color red and to the planet Saturn. It has a very earthy tribal energy and responds to nature sounds, tribal music, drumming and chanting.
The possible physiological benefits for a balanced first chakra is a healthy colon, good digestion and elimination, strong bones, and a vital immune system.
Glands: The glands affected for the 1st chakra is the adrenals.
Gemstones: Smoky quartz is grounding, removes blockages and rids the body of negative energy. Garnet helps us connect with earth energies and issues of self-worth and brings a knowing that our needs will be provided for. To see this mala, go to http://celedra.com/malas/chakra/index.htm.
Mantra: “I breathe in connection to my body and to the earth, knowing that all of my needs are met. I am secure, prosperous and vibrantly healthy.”
We invite you to wear your mala and recite your mantra for 21 days for full transformation and alignment to occur. Each of our malas come with its own life-affirming mantra (“prayer”, in Sanskrit) and represents a convergence of ancient spiritual tradition and modern beauty: The simplicity of gemstones is known to have healing qualities and, when worn around the wrist, is a constant reminder of the sacred within each of us. About the Author
Celedra Gildea, a psychotherapist by profession, began designing malas, or prayer beads, in 1995 in order to support her spiritual practice in Tibetan Buddhism. In 2007 she went to Tibet to start a non-profit cottage industry for the Nangchen, training local Tibetan women in the making of malas. Then, she and her team took a harrowing car ride up the treacherous roads to the nunnery, where the malas were placed on the alter to receive the prayers and blessings of the nuns. Today, she is devoted to providing objects of art for you and your home with malas, jewelry and home décor that are a reminder of the sacred in everyday life.
