tiger stripe camouflage vrs woodland camouflage?
I know that both Tiger stripes and the woodland type ERLD pastern were used in Vietnam, and it looks like the new Air force Fatigues are digital tiger stripes, so is the Tiger stripe a better pattern-if so then why did the US Military use Woodland and not Tiger Stripe for the post Vietnam fatigues?
(I know the term fatigue is old but my folks are vietnam era vets and my dad retired in the 80’s so he used the old term.)
The tiger stripes in Viet Nam didn’t really
work so well.
The pattern looked cool, but in combat
the pattern ran horizontally. It didn’t
‘harmonize’ with the flora that generally went vertical.
Plus at that time, ’70’s, the new battlefront was going to be
Europe and the Fulda Gap. Tiger stripes would not
work there.
The digital cammies should be more versatile
over a wider spectrum.
But the rumor is they don’t hold up so well
and are poorly made.
