Pocket Folder Types
So you are about to embark on pocket folder printing. However, you may be asking yourself, what kind of pocket folders should I have printed? There are many kinds with different folds, and different sleeves or “pockets”. In fact, pocket folder printing can be done with custom sizes and custom pockets if need be. If you are sure of what you want in terms of your custom pocket folder then read on below. You will discover the different common types of color pocket folders and their possible uses.
Standard pocket folder
First let us discuss the standard pocket folder. A standard pocket folder is generally like an off the shelf folder that you can buy in shops. It is a piece of thick cardboard or paper folded in the middle. The difference is that on the inside of a pocket or presentation folder a pocket or several pockets can be added. On standard versions of folder printing there are usually two pockets coming across horizontally. Those pockets can store standard letter papers and other print media that is smaller. Color folders with this configuration are commonly used for presentations, press releases, official reports and your run of the mill paper container.
Common pocket folder variations
Next, we go on to a few standard variations. First of these would be the high capacity pocket folder. This is like the standard pocket folder only the pockets have been modified to carry more papers and other things. Extra capacity for pocket folders is usually needed for press kits or public relations kits and containers of complimentary reading material for detailed reports and presentations. Also, a high capacity pocket folder is basically used when you have a significant amount of material that needs to be stored, around 30 pages or so. This can be in the form of letters or reports, brochures, business cards, fliers and other print media.
Next, a variation of the standard and the high capacity pocket folder are the folders with rounded, clipped or specially modified pockets. This kind of presentation folder has its pockets cut in a different way other than the standard straight pockets. These folders can have pockets that are rounded, clipped and reduced in size. In some cases the pockets can be replaced with slits where you can slid the corners of a paper, such as in the case with certificate folders. These variations in pocket design are used if you have a specific kind of material that you want to place in your color folder that should match the pockets. This can be a certificate, modified flyers and brochures, small booklets and custom sized reports.
Afterwards, you can take these pocket modifications and high capacity variations and turn them all horizontally. The next variation is the horizontally aligned pockets in pocket folders. All the variations of pockets can be turned on their side and aligned vertical. This gives a different kind of look for the standard pocket folder making it a bit more interesting. It should perform well with any functions mentioned above.
Special custom folders
Lastly, we have the custom pocket folders. Though most custom pocket folder printingcan cost more due to the need for special settings in printing, custom pocket folders are the most creatively done presentation folders. They can come in many sizes, folds and pockets. They can have the standard size for letter paper, legal paper, or they can come in smaller half sizes for special presentations. Some can have three folds, center folds, gate folds etc. Their pockets can be standard pockets or they actually come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Some custom presentation folders even have built in locks to secure its contents inside. All in all, the only limit is your imagination when it comes to custom pocket folder printing.
